    Owner, Coach

    “I believe CrossFit to be a great tool in helping people overcome their self-limiting beliefs and actualizing their potential.”

    Chas has always been active throughout his life, and as he began evaluating his life a few years ago, he realized that his job at the time wasn’t a fulfilling career. He made the decision to take his passion for fitness to the next level and open CrossFit Maplewood to help others achieve their health and fitness goals. Chas specializes in weightlifting and sports performance and loves seeing his athletes succeed, in and out of the gym.

  • Kris Musni


    “What I love most [about coaching] is just getting to witness people achieve things that they thought they couldn’t.”

    Kris joins the CrossFit Maplewood team as a former personal trainer at a traditional gym. Being able to have a more effective, greater impact on groups of people in the CrossFit class model really convinced Kris that transitioning to CrossFit was the right decision for him. Kris is passionate about combat sports (where he has a lot of his athletic background) and fitness, and is a self-proclaimed foodie!

  • MC Ong


    Owner & Coach MC Ong says CrossFit training changed her both mentally and physically. “I have always been a perfectionist, so much so that it took me a very long time to realize I was in the way of my own growth,” she says. “CrossFit has shown me that determination, heart, and hard work are a product of the mindset you bring to whatever it is in life you choose to pursue.”

    MC believes that CrossFit is a metaphor for life: setting and achieving goals, the mental fortitude it takes to keep putting your best foot forward, and staying disciplined – all are key to a successful workout and life. “All these carry over to other aspects of life and showed me that I’m capable of doing anything I put my mind to,” she says. “Seeing the changes in myself, from getting strong to getting over my self-limiting beliefs, has given me purpose to help others do the same and reach their full potential.”

  • Johanna Thorton

    Kids Coach

    “I love programming classes that are fun and challenging. It is very rewarding to see how excited the kids get when they do things they never thought they could do!”

    A lifelong athlete, Johanna has a passion for athletics and teaching the youngest members of CrossFit Maplewood. Johanna played field hockey and lacrosse throughout high school and was part of high school field hockey State Championship team. In college, she participated in intramural sports then went on to circuit training after graduating, but it wasn’t until she found CrossFit that she rediscovered her passion for fitness and athletics. As her passion grew, she knew she wanted to combine her experience as a teacher and her love of CrossFit to coach kids.

  • Brian Thorton

    Teen Coach

    “My favorite part [of coaching] is the community. I really like when a member is having a hard time and everyone rallies behind them to motivate them to push harder and move faster.”

    Brian is a strength specialist with a passion for Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, and Superman. (He’s very passionate about Superman.) As a CrossFitter, he experienced such an amazing physical and mental transformation in himself that he wanted to transition into a coaching role to help others experience the same positive changes. He loves pushing people to their limits because he knows that’s where real change happens.
