The day I went to my first Saturday partner WOD at Crossfit Maplewood, I had no idea that the way I approached exercise would change forever. So much so that when I found out I was pregnant with my second child, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep doing Crossfit, but I did until my 6th month. Our coaches helped me substitute movements for the assigned WODs and I always felt safe. Even though I was on hiatus during the last few months of my pregnancy, I was still a part of the awesome community that makes Crossfit Maplewood such a special and unique place and as soon as the doctor allowed I was back and motivated to gain back the strength and technique I had developed before I was pregnant. After 2 ½ years, I can confidently say that Crossfit Maplewood has become more than just a way to achieve my fitness goals. It has become like therapy for the everyday struggles I encounter and the place where I have met forever friends and a community that literally can lift me up when I am down.
